James Clarence Elmore Sherrell (Peter), Sunrise-August 4, 1941 Sunset-December 10, 2015. Born in Nashville, TN to the late Elmore Sherrell and Aline Nunley Sherrell Gilbert. James attended Nashville public schools and graduated from Pearl High, class of 1959. James was one of the original members of 'The Anita Sherrell Singers.' He retired from Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute after 35 years of loyal service.
He leaves to cherish his memory, daughter, Kawanda Sherrell; 3 grandchildren, Edward Leatherman, Jr., Jodi Kelly and Destiny Sherrell; Great-grandson, Braylen Kelly; Sisters: Jimmie Lou Ransom, Anita (Robert) Bailey, Delores Pozo, Kawanda Parks, Mickie Sherrell; Brothers: Charles (Martine), Bobbye , Quinton and Connell Sherrell, Louis(Jimalatice) and David Gilbert; Aunt: Fannie Belle Coats. A host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
View Wednesday 1-6pm, Smith's Chapel; Family present 4-6pm; Visit Thursday 11-12 pm; Funeral to follow, Fifteenth Ave. BC, 1203 9th Ave No; Rev. Dr. William Buchanan, Pastor; Rev. Joseph Tribble, Officiant.
Interment, Hills of Calvary Memorial Park.
