John Horsley Obituary
Murfreesboro, TN
Age 90 - July 4, 2017. Mr. Horsley was a retired CPA in public practice. He was a graduate of Isaac Litton High School and a member of Blackman United Methodist Church. In earlier years, John enjoyed house boating on the Cumberland and Tennessee Rivers. He was a past Commodore of Cumberland Old Hickory Yacht Club; served in the Navy during World War II aboard LST 240 & was past Commander of American Legion Post 82. In later years, he was an amateur wood carver.
Preceded in death by parents, David R. & Kathryn Horsley; wives, Frances D. & Delores J.; brother, Claude Horsley; sisters, Ethel Shands, Kathryn Fletcher & Sara Murdock.
Survived by wife, Dell Harris Horsley; daughters, Diane (Jackson) Arnold & Kay McDonald; son, John W. Horsley, Jr.; grandsons, Dale & David Horsley.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 7, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, HICKORY CHAPEL, 5852 Nolensville Road, by Rev. David Stockton. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery with Military Honors. Active Pallbearers: Carl Self, Loyd Locke, Bud Brooks, Ken Browning, Martin Coleman & Wayne Corley. Memorial contributions may be made to Blackman United Methodist Church.
Visitation Friday from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel Directors 615-331-1952. Still Family Owned

Our sincere condolences to Dell and family! John was a wonderful man and a dear friend! We met iin Port Charlotte, Florida and immediately became close friends with John and Dell. Marilyn and I have visited John and Dell twice. On one visit we met his daughter Diane with whom we also had a wonderful visit. John always had a good story to tell and we both enjoyed his wit and friendship.
We will miss our Buddy John!
