Johnny Howell, known as the Bradley Tomato Man, age 74 of Nashville, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2016.
Celebration of Life services will be conducted Wednesday, October 12 at 11:00 AM at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, with burial in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation Monday noon-8:00 PM and Tuesday 9:00 AM-8:00 PM.

I helped Johnny for several years. He and I were pretty close back then. I talked to him last year, we had a very good conversation. I'm gonna miss you , man.

You are going to be sadly missed Johnny Honey. I grew up on the Farmers Market working for him and also being part of the Market family. He was a person you could always talk to. I'm going to miss my long time friend . Rest in Peace Love your( Kathy baby).... Kathy Boone

My husband and I have been supporters of the Farmer's Market since the 80s. I can't remember when we started to chat with Howell Farm employees but over the years we got to know them and each year the first question we would ask was "How is Johnny and when will his tomatoes start coming in?" On rare occasions we would see him, bringing flatbed trailers packed with basket after basket of tomatoes. Once, long before all this "farm to table" talk started, we stopped him to tell him how much we appreciated his produce. He quietly took us aside and told us to wait a minute... he had brought something special in. We waited, and then he motioned over to part of the truck and showed us gorgeous heirlooms that he had started "playing around with." Glad he got to see another season planted before his time on this earth was done.
