Lula Mae Brooks of Nashville, TN, passed away June 2, 2015 surrounded by her son Mark, family and loving friends.
Lula is survived by her son, Mark Brooks and her granddaughter, Emma Brooks. She leaves behind her sister, Mary V. Wilhoite of Nashville, TN; two brothers, Charles Haymer of Paris, TN and William Haymer of Nashville, TN. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and two great-great nieces.
Lula was preceded in death by her husband, Marcellus Brooks; her mother, Frances Vaughn Tatum; father and step-mother, John and Catherine Vaughn; two sisters, Bobbie Jean Williams and Christine Vaughn Bates, and one brother, John A. Vaughn.
Lula was educated at Pearl High School and attended Tennessee State University and Nashville Technical Institute. Lula spent many wonderful years at Fisk University, where she formed lifelong relationships with the faculty and the students she served. It was there that she also met her beloved husband, Marcellus Brooks. Lula later joined the Computer Technology Department at Hospital Corporation of America, from which she retired.
Services for Lula M. Brooks will be held Saturday, June 13, 2016 at the Fisk University Memorial Chapel. Visitation with the family at 10 a.m., with memorial services to follow at 11 a.m. A repast will be served at Metropolitan Interdenominational Church at 2128 11th Avenue North, Nashville, TN 37208 immediately following the service.

but there is cuz I know what you're going through because you know year ago I lost my mother too I feel your pain I'm here for you and hopefully I can try to make the funeral tomorrow if not my prayers go out to everybody blue known as your mother may she rest in peace but she's always with you and be safe cuz this is not going anywhere is going to be a long journey cuz we still healing from my mother's passing love you cuz be safe Marcellas Vaughn brooks

I was privileged to know Lula for several years when she worked at HCA, and I am saddened at her passing. I treasure memories of a sweet, caring lady. She left "happy tracks" in this world, and it is a poorer place without her in it.
