Marie Fuqua Obituary
Nashville, TN - Marie was born in Shelbyville, TN, in 1921 and moved to Nashville at an early age. She was preceded by her parents, Nell Green Temple and James Preston Temple, husband James Gil Fuqua, Sr., sons Timothy Temple Fuqua and Donald Reed Fuqua. Survived by sons James Gil Fuqua, Jr., and Cayce Preston Fuqua, grandchildren: Patten, Sarah, Willa and James. Marie passed away peacefully on November 29, 2019.
Marie attended Hume Fogg High School and Peabody College. After her marriage to Gil, she was active in many charitable organizations. She served as President of Fannie Battle Day Home, and was an active volunteer with Cheekwood, Salvation Army, Belmont Mansion, Nashville Symphony, VA Hospital and Cumberland Heights. She was a member of the Centennial Club and the All Seasons Garden Club.
The family will have visitation on Tuesday, December 2, 2019, from twelve thirty until two o'clock in the afternoon at West End United Methodist Church where Marie was an active member. Her memorial service will be at two o'clock in the afternoon at the church followed by a reception for friends at Marie's house from three until five o'clock in the afternoon.
Marie asked that you consider a donation to West End Methodist Church, Cumberland Heights, or a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.

Marie was Bill's Cub Scout leader & he adored her. She was also one of the very first people through the door when his own mother died unexpectedly, and we'll never forget her kindness during that difficult time.
