Mark Hartley Obituary
Waverly, TN
Age 89, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014 in Waverly. Dr. Hartley was a longtime Family Practice Physician in Waverly. He was born December 19, 1924, in Vardaman, MS, to James Franklin and Mable Burke Hartley. He was a graduate of Vardaman High School and Ole Miss University, then earning his Doctorate of Medicine at University of Tennessee, Memphis. He was a member of the American Medical Assoc., MS Medical Assoc., TN Medical Assoc., Elks Lodge and Lions Club in MS, the WCHS Tiger Athletic Physician for 20 years. He loved treating athletes, ministers, and fellow physicians at no charge for his services. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Waverly and a Sunday School teacher.
Dr. Hartley was preceded in death by his parents; son, Marlin Hartley; siblings, Cooper, Sam, J.T., Mary, and Joe Hartley.
Survivors include his loving wife, Patricia Jean Oliphant Hartley, Waverly, TN; 9 children, Sandra Sarris (Chris), Austin, TX, Nancy H. McDonald (Craig), Coldwater, MS, Doug Hartley, Austin, TX, Allison H. Patterson (Andy), Franklin, TN, Kamela Jo "JoJo" H. Shields, Dickson, TN, Chip Cullum, Franklin, TN, Tarra H. Stephens (James), Lubbock, TX, Amy Cullum, Waverly, TN, Jamie Sue H. Stewart (Randy), Waverly, TN; 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be Sunday, May 25, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. and Monday, May 26, 2014 from 10 a.m. until funeral service time at 1 p.m. at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly. Dr. Richard Bray will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Collier Cemetery in Waverly, TN. Luff-Bowen Funeral Home, 2400 Hwy. 13 North, Waverly, TN; (931) 296-2437.

I will always be thankful to you for the life of my second daughter, you did not give up on her, and you were a shoulder for both Gary and I to lean on at that stressful time and many years after. You were a the kindest person we ever met and i will miss you dearly. I'm so sorry for your family, my God bless and keep you all in the palm of his hands
