We will always remember Minda as beautiful, radiating kindness, wisdom, and spirituality. She was our cousin, married to my husband Gary's first cousin Barry. We always looked forward to seeing the three Lazarov-Sulkins (including Shea) when our families convened. Minda wore a smile that belied her physical pain, never complaining to us. We will always miss seeing and being with her; we never had enough time in her company. She will forever be a much-loved and admired lady. Barry and Shea, I know you know that you blessed her with much joy. We love you, Gary, Kay, Justin, Matt

I have not seen Minda in many years, but kept up with her through a mutual friend (Marion Cullen). I was so saddened to hear that she had finally lost the battle. My prayers are with her family as they come to terms with their great loss. Minda was well known and widely admired throughout the country for her work promoting breastfeeding in the WIC Program, establishing a pioneering breastfeeding peer program and working on Baby Friendly Hospitals. She went on to work on national breastfeeding policy. She lived a truly heroic life; we honor her legacy and hope to make a very significant difference like she did. She blessed us with her many gifts. My deepest condolences to the whole family.

I was so sorry to hear of your loss and the family's loss. Although, I was not close to her, she has made her presence to many through her contributions in the community and family. However, know that her body has passed on, but her spirit and goodness will remain to bless everyone in her life.

May the Lord Bless Each of you and Shine down on you and give you strength as she would have wished for each of you.

Sweet Barry, Shea and family, thank you for sharing the love of your lives with the rest of us. Minda was a gift from heaven that was an amazing force for good in this world. Not only did she inspire me, but she blessed my sister Donna with many good conversations during their acoustic neuroma recoveries. I am deeply sorrowful that she has left us in body, but her spirit lives on in so many positive ways. May God bless you during the difficult days to follow. I know her light will continue to shine brightly in her family. Much love and peace, Leann

I regret I did not know Minda, but I know a little about her work and focus. It is so remarkable and admirable that, given her own struggle with health issues, she devoted so much energy to the welfare of others, and to the environment. She remains a model of how to live a meaningful life. I am sorry to hear of her passing.

So sorry to hear of Minda losing her long struggle with cancer. I went to Jr. High and High School with her in Memphis and have only seen her at a class reunion or two since then. I kept up with her through Scott Prosterman, who was a very close friend to each of us. May Minda forever rest in peace and comfort after having struggled through such an illness-filled lifetime. My condolences to Barry and her entire family and her many friends.

Minda was a wonderful resource to me when I was taking the IBCLC certification exam! We then reconnected through Attachment Parenting International. She was a gentle, unselfish person, but also brilliant, accomplished and humble. I'll be praying for your family.

Minda Lazarov was one of the most courageous woman I ever knew. She was also one of the brightest, sweet-natured and most beautiful women I’ve known. She was one of the early patients at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, with a patient number in the 1000’s.
When we were 15, Minda came down with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and nearly died. Then she made a miraculous recovery and returned to being a normal, beautiful high school girl. She was one of my best friends in life and we enjoyed a sweet, enduring friendship throughout our lives. Minda had an amazing sense of humor that she displayed even during the toughest times.
I had not spoken to Minda in at least two months, and I’m kicking myself for not reaching out over the High Holy Days. It is said that only the most righteous Jews die during the High Holy Days, and Minda died on the morning of Yom Kippur.
As Barry is also a lifelong friend, I offer my deepest condolences to him and Shea. Oy.

Barry: Our heart is heavy with you loss and OUR loss. A vital piece of our local fabric has been torn out and cannot be repaired. Minda was one of my dearest friends for the past 20 years. We worked together for several years on the Baby Friendly Campaign and formed a lasting friendship. I loved worked with Minda as she was one of the greatest strategists, best organizers. Everything she touched turned to gold. She loved her family so very much, her wonderful community of friends, her home and land, and her community. She was a friend who really listened, shared her wisdom, and enjoyed life to the fullest. She found meaning in everything and always wanted to share that meaning, even in times of great suffering. Barry and Shea, my heart goes out to you as the loss must seem unbearable. I wish I could have been there today, but have pneumonia. Her light will live on with all of us who were graced with her strong presence and clear vision. Sending my condolences to Minda's mother, sister, the entire family, her wonderful friends, and especially to Barry and Shea. Much love, Peg Dublin, Chicago.

Minda was a beautiful human being, inside and out - this world is dimmer today without her life light shining in it. She leaves an incredible legacy behind in her work, and also in her daughter Shea. She was a kind and good friend to me on one of the darkest days of my life, and I will never forget her. Barry, Shea, and the rest of Minda's family, I ache for you and I am so sorry you have to live without her so soon. I will keep you in my heart and my thoughts.

To Barry, Shea, Mrs. Lazarov and extended family, we send our deepest love and symapathy for your loss. It's hard to comprehend the lives that Minda touched for so many generations, because her life work was to nurture the healthy relationships of young families. We are so blessed to have had her in our community, and the ripple effect of her love and devotion to her family and the greater world will live on, because you couldn't know Minda and not be inspired to want to be a part of her vision and high ideals. Her warmth, beauty and enthusiasm were infectious and I feel so blessed to have had her for a friend, a mentor, and a living example of courage and indominable will.

Barry, Steve and I are heartbroken for you. Minda was so thoughtful, intelligent, kind and a wonderful homemaker. She was always the most gracious host even on days when she did not feel her best. I remember so clearly when she told me how she loved to walk down your long driveway at night to watch the stars and hear the forest sounds. She truly cherished the outdoors. Another thing I admired was the energy and interest she put into helping create a "Sunday Spirit School" for Shea and her buds. I thought to myself what a wonderful mother she was to create a unique curriculum that reflected her strongly held values of compassion and tolerance of diversity.

Steve's memory is of always a smiling, laughing person even when she was not feeling well. He remembers her strong devotion to her work on behalf of children and mothers and we both know that devotion will be sorely missed.

If you are ever around NC way, please call us for dinner. We will definitely support the Beaman/Bells Bend Conservation Corridor as it was our privilege to work with you and Minda and many others on making a small part of that possible. Our thoughts are with you...

Minda is that rare person who lived her life with purpose and passion as an activist and advocate, particularly for children. I hope her charitable work will be recognized and remembered long after her death because she helped so many during her short life, despite her many health challenges.. She was an inspiration to me and many others, truly an angel on this earth. What a blessing to have known her in my life. Lysa Parker

I was so lucky to be a member of the 1970 Brenner BBG MIT Class with Minda. Our journey began as innocent silly 14 year old girls but soon we developed a special awareness and maturity when Minda began her struggles with cancer at age 15. Through all her life she endured struggles with strength and grace. She is one of my heroes. Our "MIT Class" held a reunion in Memphis last year in honor of Minda's 55th birthday and her 40 years as a survivor. We were all blessed with our time together and with Minda. It will remain as one of the special times in my life. We are all better for having known Minda and we will miss her. My deepest condolences go to Barry, Shea and the rest of Minda's family.
