I flew with Randy on the B767 when he was based in ORD.

He was a wonderful guy, with a great sense of humor, a fine pilot, and a pleasure to work with. I am saddened by his passing, and wish to extend my condolences to his family.

I often thought of you; but I did not know you had been called out of this world until yesterday. It shocked me. I pray for you and ask you, with all the angels and saints, in the presence of God, to pray for us all until we shall meet again in heaven. Jim

My name is Jim Pettengill; I shared a crash pad (condo) in Kew Gardens with Randy. He was a truly great person. One time we went to Harlem together to visit the American Indian Museum. Even though I am a former Marine; I would only would have gone on that "expidition" with a guy like Randy along to "protect" me.... Really; I mean it. I think that museum is no longer there, in Harlem, on account of the neighborhood where it was located having deteriorated too much for it to remain. I think that museum is now in Texas. Besides sharing crash pad life with Randy, I also flew many times with him as well... He was a funny, postitive, up beat man.... I liked him a lot. I had one really unusual flight with him on the DC-10 a long time ago, which space prevents me from relating to you. Every time I was to fly with Randy, I knew I had not only an excellent airman to fly with me; but also one of the best people I've ever met to share the experience with... as well as a 110% guarantee of having an enjoyable time. Please be assured of my prayers for you, your family, and Randy... Again, all of my sympathy to you and yours, Jim
