Robert Davidson SHWAB

SHWAB, Robert Davidson Age 86, passed away March 16, 2010 after a brief illness at Vanderbilt Hospital. He was a life-long resident of Nashville, living in Belle Meade, with the exception of 14 years in Aspen and Telluride, CO. He attended Parmer School, Montgomery Bell Academy and St. John's Military Academy in Wisconsin. He was a veteran of WWII and played drums for the Glenn Miller Air Force Band during the war. Bobby was an avid Civil War enthusiast and collector, as well as an expert on art and antiques, having been proud owner of Highland Antique Gallery on the square in Franklin. Bobby was a golfer, skier and an animal and outdoors lover, who enjoyed reading books about history. He had a delightful sense of humor, loved a good joke, and always had a happy smile of greeting for anyone he met. Bobby was a true Southern Gentleman, in a class by himself. He was a long time member of Belle Meade Country Club, St. George's Episcopal Church and Vice President of the English Speaking Union. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, J.B and Louise Pritchett Shwab. He will be deeply missed by his children, Olivia Shwab and Clay Shwab; brother, William P. Shwab and by his beloved grandchildren, who lovingly knew him as "Papa", David (Meg) Kerr, Keats Shwab, Reilly Shwab, Blue Dean and great-grandchildren, Libby, Eleanor, Lucy, Annie, as well as by his long time dear friend, Faye Smith. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, March 19th from 12:30 until 2 p.m., at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m., in the Mount Olivet Cemetery.
