Roger Fussell Obituary

Roger Hayden Fussell

Brentwood, TN

Roger went to be with his Lord and Savior February 29, 2016. We have lost an amazing husband and best friend, a loving and proud father, a brother, a friend, a child of God.

He is survived by Elaine, his wife of 31 years; treasured children, Kaitlyn Taylor Fussell and Hayden Reno Fussell; brother, Ed (Jessica) Fussell; sisters, Margaret Clements and Marilyn Froscher, and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Reno Fussell; brothers, Wilson, Dewey and Monroe Fussell; and sisters, Thelma Byrd and Anne Fussell.

Roger grew up in Hazlehurst, GA and graduated from Georgia Tech before moving to the Nashville area. He spent most of his career in industrial sales. Roger will be remembered by his faith, his loving nature, his amazing patience, his respect for all, and the fact that he never met a stranger. He was the perfect example of "you do the right thing, simply because it's the right thing to do."

We are sincerely grateful to our family, our church, our friends and neighbors who have surrounded us with love. We also want to thank Dr. Sosman and all the Vanderbilt medical team that cared for him and us through this journey.

To honor Roger's life, a memorial service will be held at Brentwood United Methodist Church on Friday, March 4, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. with visitation at the church beginning at 3:00 p.m. The Good Path Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brentwood United Methodist Church, Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, or the Nashville Rescue Mission. Addresses and an online guestbook are available at AustinFuneralService.com.(615)377-0775.

Roger and Randall both were classmates of mine during high school. Both were smart and never put anyone down. They were lots of fun to be around. They were country boys like the rest of us. Too bad that both are now gone, though they left many happy memories. May God bless their families and friends. Jesse M. Bookhardt

I'm sorry to hear about Roger. I knew him but my contact with him was limited. He was in the same high school class with my brother.
