Roland functioned as the "Doctors' Doctor" as Medical Director of the TMF. He was an inspiration to many and a very influential leader in physician health. Roland was the poster child for EQUANIMITY, the composed gentle man at all times. He was a great role model for many. Lynn Hankes, MD

As a young member in the Federations of State Physician Health Programs, I got to work with Dr. Gray and admired his grace, measured demeanor, and humility. I recall to this day the persuasive effect those qualities and his understated nature had on the leadership at ABMS during a meeting when he was advocating for fair and open treatment of recovering physicians. A great loss for us all.

I was a classmate of Roland in Med school. He was a wonderful man. Funny, smart and above all caring. I saw him occasionally through the years and he never changed. The world lost a good man and we were all better from having him as a friend
