Samuel Gene Bryant

Samuel Gene Bryant, age 84 of Adams, died Thursday, August 13, 2015 at his home.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 2 p.m., in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home, with Rev. Jim Capps and Dr. Tommy Crunk officiating. Interment followed in Bellwood Cemetery, with Chris Bryant, Billy Bryant, Steven Bryant, Joe Bryant, Sam Bryant, Ricky Martin, Bobby Clay Riley, Gary Sykes, and Joe Hitchcock serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers were Ralph Hitchcock, Danny Stuard, Jerry Stuard, Clarence Stuard, Jr., David Bellar, Chris Houston, Sammy Stephens, Troy Pearson, Tant Dowell, Drew Miller, Joe McQuiston, Joseph McQuiston, David Bryant, Greg Bryant, Scott Bryant, Frank Bryant, Jeff Bryant and Josh Jackson.

Mr. Bryant was born July 27, 1931 in Montgomery County to the late Herschel Earl and Alice Barbara Clardy Bryant. He was a member of Adams United Methodist Church, was a farmer, and was a long time member of the Robertson County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Steve Bryant.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bessie S. Bryant of Adams; sons and daughters-in-law, Sammy and Judy Bryant of Adams and Buddy and Emily Bryant of Adams; daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Richard Martin of Cedar Hill, and Joanna and Bobby Clay Riley of Adams; sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Norman Mutchler of Waverly, IA; grandchildren, Christopher Nichols Bryant and wife Melissa, William Samuel Bryant and wife Mandy, Samantha McQuiston and husband Joe, Joe Bryant and fiancée, Jenna Russin, Sam Bryant, Ella Rose Bryant, Jessica Riley Pearson and husband Troy, Skyler Riley and fiancee' Drew Miller, Haleigh Riley, Brandy Dowell and husband Tant, and Steven Bryant and wife Jennifer; and great grandchildren, Ashlen Bryant, Grayson Bryant, Bo Bryant, Joseph Samuel McQuiston, Jacob Robert McQuiston, Jarett McQuiston, and Emma Grace Dowell.

The family suggest memorial contributions be made to either Alive Hospice, Ag in the Classroom c/o Robertson County Farm Bureau, or Adams United Methodist Church. All donations can be sent c/o Robertson County Funeral Home.

Robertson County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

We will all miss Sammy. We enjoyed the testimonies of his granddaughters and doctor at the funeral very much. It was obvious that he was loved very much and will be missed by many. Our sincerest sympathies to his family.
