Sharon CRON Obituary

CRON, Sharon MaeAge 63 of Nashville. Died Saturday, September 15, 2012 after an extended battle with breast cancer and liver disease. She was born to the late Martin Edward "Ed" and Leona Gibbs on September 24, 1948 in Ashland City, TN. Sharon graduated from Cheatham County Central High School in 1966. She received her BS in Education from David Lipscomb University, where she also met the love of her life, Charles Patterson Cron. Sharon and Pat married in August 1969, and they lived their life together in Nashville. Sharon was a Metro elementary school teacher until she retired in 2011 and was dedicated to instilling curiosity and passion for learning into the lives of her students. She extended her zeal for teaching beyond the classroom to those in her church and community, volunteering for countless vacation bible schools, serving as a Girl Scout leader, and even organizing field trips for neighborhood kids. Sharon was a woman with boundless creativity that effortlessly flowed into every aspect of her life. She loved to sing and played instruments as diverse as the piano, the harpsichord and the ukulele. She would sketch and paint and tackle a wide variety of craft projects. She was fearless when it came to home improvement; she could build a bookcase or rewire a light switch. She loved camping and road trips and was an expert at packing the car. She was a devoted wife and mother, an active member of Belmont Church and a woman with an endless capacity for love. She could light up an entire room or make just one person feel like they were the most important person in the world. She was always full of joy and warmth and was generous with both. Sharon is survived by her husband, Pat Cron; their four children, Corrie Cron of Nashville, Amy (Ken) Chan of Los Angeles, Chad (Jessica) Cron of Ashland City and Jake Cron of Nashville; her sister, Norma (Don) Beshears of Ashland City; four grandchildren, Charlie, Lizzie, James and Kiran. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. at Belmont Church, 68 Music Square East, Nashville, TN. The Funeral will be held at the church on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 2 p.m., preceded by visitation starting at 12:30 p.m. Following the funeral, Sharon will be laid to rest at the Gibbs Family Cemetery in Ashland City, TN.

Sharon & I lived together in Colonial Heights when Pat was in Vietnam & my husband was in Korea. When our husbands came back they invited us to Hopewell Church of Christ. The family has been to our home & we were to their home. Sharon & Pat were wonderful Christian Friends.

Pat and children, Sharon and I knew each other at DLC and then at Belmont. You sweet wife and mother taught me so much about living in the Spirit and I will never forget her for that! I knew her parents and visited their home with Karen Burdine Mullowney and her. I have not seen Sharon or you, Pat, in years, but will always be thankful you invited Karen who invited me to attend Belmont way back in 1971, the fall!!! Hallelujah, what a difference really meeting the Lord and worshipping Him has made in my life. I know where Sharon is.....One of my favorite quotes came from a sympathy card when my Dad died in 1978. It is this: "Love is Immortal, and Life is Eternal, but death is only an horizon and an horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight." That was comforting to me and I pray it is to you also.....our loved ones are just beyond the horizon where we cannot see. But our love for them is really immortal, and in Jesus, our lives are eternal....Praise God for Sharon!

Sharon would have loved yesterday's beautiful celebration of her beautiful life. In fact, I am sure she enjoyed it from heaven. She will be watching over all of us now - as long as we stick together.

We are so sorry for your loss. Sharon was such a wonderful person. When we heard the news Cheryl and I talked about what a wonderful smile she had. She was a faithful servant to those of us who sit in the balcony at Belmont. She always had a kind word and a gracious smile. We love her and will miss her terribly. Our prayers are with all of her family and friends, but we know we will meet again where there are no tears.

I only met Sharon many years ago, briefly, through her daughter, Corrie; but I remember her as a lovely, warm, exceptionally welcoming person. I know she will be greatly missed but I also know the legacy of family that she leaves behind means that her influence changed and will continue to change the world in positive ways. My heart and prayers go out to the Cron family.

DLC, now DLU, 66-69 Sharon was my closest friend. I watched her fall in love with Pat and spent time at her parent's home in Ashland City. These are memories filled with love. I looked back a my "college" album and every picture of Sharon showed her smiling or laughing--her eyes sparkling.
I know she was a wonderful daughter, wife, mom, grandmother, sister, friend and teacher.

My love to the family,

Karen Burdine Mullowney

I pray for the loving hand of our Father rest on each and every one of you during this time and the times to come. I pray that no matter how hard it gets, that you remember He understands. I haven't made it through myself yet, but I am learning that at least a measure of peace can be found on this kind of journey. It has been enough to get me through. Sometimes just minute by minute, but His grace has proved sufficient. I love you all...

Scott and I had the pleasure of a small group with Sharon and family. The girls babysat our two. Sharon's eyes always glistened with the joy that was in her heart. We are sorry for the loss of all who know and love her.

We bought our farm in Ashland City from her grandparents in 1962. When we moved her in '62 Sharon was a teenager who babysat for us on several occasions. We've lost touch in the last few years but we have some wonderful memories of Sharon and her family in Ashland City. We dearly loved them and would like to send our deepest sympathy and regrets.

Sharon and I taught together at Jere Baxter in the mid to late 90's. When I think of Sharon, I am reminded of her great smile, her love for her students, and the great enthusiam for teaching that never waivered. It was a great pleasure to work with Sharon and to call her friend.
