Walter JAKES Obituary

JAKES, Walter A.Age 96 of Nashville. November 22, 2011. Preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Jakes; parents, John M. and Dovie M. Jakes. Survived by children, Walter A. (Terry) Jakes, Jr., Lyn (Linda) Jakes, Ruth Ann (Ray) Baumgartner; grandchildren, Danny Jakes, John David Jakes, Charlie Jakes, Matthew Jakes, Jeff Baumgartner, Chris Baumgartner and Renee' Howard; great grandchildren, Jared and Kaitlyn Howard; sister, Kathryn Stamps; brothers, Leonard (Dorothy) Jakes, Ellis Jakes. Mr. Jakes had been a member of Belmont Heights Baptist Church since 1938. He was co-owner of Jakes Bros. Country Meats and a W.W. II Veteran of both the Air Force and Army. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November, 26, 2011 in Woodlawn's Dignity Hall, with Pastor Rick Elsey officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Family and friends will gather to remember Walter on Friday from 4 o'clock until 8 o'clock in the evening at

We knew both Walter and Ruth (by way of Belmont Heights Baptist Church) since the 1960s. They were two of the finest Christian role models we have ever been blessed to know. May there be comfort in knowing that the two of them are now reunited in Heaven.

To Lyn And The Jakes Family : Walter Jakes was " A Man For All Seasons." He will be sadly missed BUT He will be remembered in our hearts & minds by his children & his many friends.
Lyn was a classmate of mine once upon a time at Isaac Litton Junior High School with Martha Rysak(Grist).
The Farrar Family sends our thought and prayers.May God be with all of you in the days to come.
