Lynn Smith Obituary

Lynn Eldon Smith, 84, of Felt, Idaho, passed away on September 28, 2025, at Homestead Senior Living in Rexburg, Idaho. He was born on September 21, 1941, in Rexburg to Overton and Nellie Smith. Lynn grew up in Rexburg and graduated from Madison High School. While in high school, he joined the National Guard and attended summer camps. After graduating from High School, he left immediately for his six-month active duty training first at Fort Ord, California, then at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. After finishing active duty in Missouri, he attended Idaho State University in Pocatello, beginning in the college of pharmacy. He married Sharon Ringle on February 11, 1961 and together they made their home in Rexburg, later returning to Pocatello so that he could continue schooling. He changed to the Trade and Technical School of Idaho State University and obtained a certificate in Drafting and Design. At age 23, following the passing of his father, Lynn took over the family farm, which became a lifelong endeavor.

Lynn loved spending time with family. He also loved the outdoors and had a passion for fishing, hunting, camping, and sailing. He also loved going dancing. He was a devoted husband and loving father. After Sharon passed away on February 1, 2004, he was the loneliest he had ever been. He renewed his acquaintance with Yvonne Jeffs, who made him happy and became his companion until her death. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon; his parents, Overton and Nellie Smith; sister Reva (Revell) George. He is survived by his children, Joanie (Jeff) Naylor of Felt, Idaho; Juli Gottler of Felt, Idaho; and Clay (Debbie) Smith of Tetonia, Idaho. He is also survived by his sister, Colleen (Wayne) Smith Bingham of Felt, Idaho and Salt Lake City, Utah, his brother, Arlo (Mary) Smith of Tacoma, Washington; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. We all loved him very much. He will be missed.
