Shannon Connole Obituary

Shannon Patricia Connole, 74, of Driggs, Idaho, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023, after a short yet hard battle with liver cancer.

Shannon was born on October 31, 1949, to Daniel Connole and Rhea Gunn in Salt Lake City, Utah. She attended a private Catholic school until her sophomore year. After attending East High School and taking a few classes at the University of Utah. She took to her love of traveling, making lifelong friends along the way.

Earlier in life she cruised the seas with her mother seeing Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, Tahiti, and the Panama Canal, along with the Hawaiian Islands. Her love of travel never faded. Later in life she was able to visit Thailand, Ireland, and even Cuba. She enjoyed her annual trip back to Cross Island Massachusetts to visit what she lovingly called her "East Coast Family". On three separate occasions, after retirement, she turned that trip into an all-summer cross country road trip staying with her friends and at KOA campgrounds.

On April 5, 1980, Shannon married Rick Soose in Driggs, Idaho. Five years later, on May 22,1985, their only child Alicia Soose, was born. A new adventure began with new travels to Disney Land and World, lots of National Parks, the Bahamas, and even a third to trip to Hawaii was made possible. In 2007, Shannon became a grandmother, affectionately known as Nana. Her grandson Keagan even got to share in her adventures.

Shannon always loved the outdoors and spent most of her life earning a living in nature. She spent her years in both the United States Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management, hiking the forests of the Teton Valley and all-over Southern Utah. While her daughter was young, Shannon worked at Coast to Coast and Ace Hardware for almost 10 years in Driggs. There she made more lifelong friends and became quite the "miss fix it".

Shannon officially retired in the fall of 2011 from the Bureau of Land Management living in Mesquite, Nevada. After many road trips, vacations, and days spent at the pool she realized the desert life was not for her. In 2017, Shannon, her daughter Alicia, and grandson Keagan move back to Teton Valley, Idaho. Where despite the long winters, it had always been home.

Shannon was preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Rhea Connole, her ex-husband and father of her daughter, Rick Soose. Several close friends that she called family.

Shannon is survived by her daughter; Alicia Soose, grandson; Keagan Loosli, sisters; Kathleen Rodman and Colleen McDonald, and so many friends all around the world.

There is no plan for services at this time. Just think of her when enjoying the beautiful outdoors and the peace that nature brings. Cremation is under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com.
