Agnes King Obituary

Agnes M. King
Agnes M. King, age 87 of Painted Post, New York passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021. She was born on March 25, 1933 in Corning, New York the daughter of Angelo Martuscello and Stella Bavisotto.
Agnes met the love of her life, Paul King, at her first job at Kings Dairy in Riverside, where she was employed as a clerk. Agnes caught Paul's eye with her good looks and charming demeanor. Theirs was a love affair that resulted in a story-book marriage of nearly 64 years, and a family of 3 devoted children, 7 adoring grandchildren and countless happy memories of family gatherings for birthdays, holidays and lazy days at Keuka lake.
Agnes worked in several positions in her life and all embraced one of her great passions: helping those in need. She did this through her efforts in the classroom at ARC, helping children of all ages with mental and physical challenges. While employed at the Special Education Department in the Corning- Painted Post Area School District, Agnes embraced as her personal responsibility the nurturing of all children, guiding their education and personal growth to become their best.
In addition to the demands of her career and her family responsibilities as mother and wife, Agnes consistently went above and beyond the call of duty, making time to assist friends and neighbors in need, preparing meals, assisting with finances, and conducting errands, wether it be shopping or personal care appointments. In her later years, she delightedly performed in a comedy and musical "kitchen" troupe, entertaining residents of regional assisted living communities and nursing homes.
Above all, Agnes, mom and Nana loved special time with her family at home with Paul on "the big hill" and at their summer home at Keuka Lake. Nana made sure that each and every one of her children and grandchildren were absolutely certain of the special love that she had for them each, in their own special way. Nana knew that they all loved her unconditionally in return.
Agnes is survived by her husband: Paul King; three children: Paul (Sherri A.) King of Ithaca, LuAnn (James) DaRin of Manlius, Julie (Evan) Wardner of Orchard Park, NY; seven grandchildren: Alaina, Shannon, Erin, Jon Paul, Christina, Leah, Katrina.
In addition to her parents, Agnes was predeceased by brothers: Francis "Frank" and Peter Martuscello.
Family and friends are invited to call at Phillips Funeral Home, 17 W. Pulteney Street, Corning, NY on Sunday, March 21, 2021 from 3:00-5:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Monday, March 22, 2021 at St. Mary's Church, 155 State St, Corning, NY with Fr. Joseph Martuscello officiating. Burial will immediately follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.

To My Dear Friend Julie and Family,
I grieve with you for the loss of your mom.
My childhood memories of her were her warm smile, her sincere inquiry (looking me straight in the eye, because she really wanted to know) of "how are you Michelle?", and always delicious smells wafting from the kitchen. If I was lucky enough to have dinner at the King's I was in for a treat. :-)
Hers was a life well loved and I know she will be missed.
Peace and comfort to all of you.
Love and hugs from,
Michelle (Hansen) Hogg
