Joseph Kennis Obituary


Joseph (Joe) F. Kennis, Jr., age 73, of Campbell, NY, passed away Friday, October 21, 2016 at Taylor Health Center, Bath, NY. Joe was born in Renovo, PA on June 20, 1943, the son of the late Joseph, Sr. and the late Maxine (Lacey) Kennis. He graduated from St. Joseph's High School.

Joe was a veteran of the US Army, serving in Germany. He was employed at Harding Rambler, Jim Fuller Chevrolet, Al Sirp's Chevron, and Corning, Inc. He retired from World Kitchen, Corning, NY.

Joe was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed camping, 4 – wheeling, and auto mechanics. He was extremely proud of his vegetable gardens and landscaping.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Stevens Kennis of Campbell, NY; son Michael (Kathie) Kennis of Campbell, NY; daughter Sheila Newcamp of Kapolei, HI; stepdaughter Lisa (Rick) Fairchild of Virginia Beach, VA; stepson David (Chris) Cranmer of Painted Post, NY; brother Robert (Mary) Kennis of Bellefonte, PA; sisters Mary Stoneroad of Elizabethville, PA; Vickie (John) Getz of Blanchard, PA and Jeanne Irvin of Beech Creek, PA; grandchildren Stanley, Sean Jr., Joni and Megan; stepgrandchildren Lydia Pert, Elizabeth Fairchild, and Matthew Cranmer; and several nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his father Joseph Kennis, Sr., mother Maxine Kennis, and brother-in-law Roy Stoneroad.

In honoring Joe's request, there will be no calling hours. The family will announce a memorial service at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Phillips Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning, NY. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Painted Post, NY.

Memorial contributions may be given in Joe's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
