Mr. Peer hired me as a reporter in 1981. I learned more from Dick in six months than I did in four years of journalism school. Dick was an editor that knew his community and its history, something that is rare today. Rest in peace: #30

Mr. Peer was my first "boss" and was a wonderful mentor. I wrote school articles for East High back in 1967-68 and was paid $.10 an inch. Even after graduation he was someone I always went back to visit. A lovely man and a gracious soul. A life well lived and an inspiration to many.

Dear Winnie, Susan, Amy, Steven, and Joyce.
I was saddened to hear of Dick's passing but what wonderful memories we have. Trips to Uncle Hank and Aunt Marys, family get togethers at Grandma Peers, Aunt Dots and moms. Dick and Winnies' 50th anniversary!!
I wish I could be there to see the family but please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. We have extra bedrooms and love to have company here in NEPA. Please keep in touch.

What a treasure Dick was to the community, his family and friends. It was my pleasure knowing and working with Dick at the Leader.

Wow, what fond memories I have of Dick Peer's columns written about Campbell. I have a stack of his stories that were clipped from the Leader by my mother, Ola Benjamin Stark.
