Stephen Albertalli Obituary

Stephen Louis Albertalli Age 88 of Big Flats, NY passed away Christmas morning, December 25, 2017 at Bethany Manor, Horseheads, NY. Steve was born, September 8, 1929 in North Bergen NJ, son of the late Stephen Louis and Pierra Malacrida Albertalli. He graduated with a BS from Rutgers University in Ceramic Engineering in 1950 and later from Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program. Steve retired as a Corporate Vice President and Director of Investor Relations after a 44-year career with Corning, Inc. He is pre-deceased by his wives, Nina Beckwith Albertalli in 1972, and Julie Knapp Albertalli in 2014, daughter, Cheryl Lou Albertalli, and son, Mark Stephen Albertalli. He is survived by son, Curt Louis (Virginia) Albertalli and daughter, Linda Lou Albertalli (William Kenner); grandchildren, Brian (Becky) Albertalli and James Albertalli; great-grandchildren, Owen, Henry, Cyris and Lulu Albertalli; and several extended family members. Steve was an avid community volunteer which included: First Congregational United Church of Christ, Trustee and Past President of the Clemens Center, Elmira, NY, Board Director of the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning Area, Paul Harris Fellowship Award from the Rotary Club of Corning, Member and President of the Corning Hospital Board, Habitat for Humanity volunteer, Board of Directors Food Bank of the Southern Tier, Member of the Healthcare Association of New York State, the Healthcare Trustees of New York State, and the American Hospital Association. Until recently, Steve lived in the house he designed over 50 years ago in Big Flats, NY. He remained curious and opinionated about current events, and stayed involved with book club and wine tasting groups. He liked hearing about his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Most of all he enjoyed being with friends, family and co-workers. A Memorial Service will be held on January 6, 2018 at 11AM at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Corning, NY. Those who wish to honor Steve's life are encouraged to make a contribution to a charity of their choice. Steve Albertelli was a rare leader among men as one of the kindest and most powerful persons we have ever known. He loved and lead others through his gentle ways and gracious wisdom. So sorry to hear of your father's death. I was so glad that I was able to share with Julie that I had remembered Mark from elementary school . She shared it with him and he was so pleased that Mark was still thought of. May your years of memories ease your present sorrow. In my thoughts.
