Barbara Davis Obituary

Barbara Williams Davis, 86 of Wake Forest passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, June 28, 2024 at the Transitions LifeCare Home in Raleigh, NC.

Surviving is her loving husband of 63 years, John Ray Davis, Sr., who she adored, their 3 sons, 11 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild: John Ray Davis, Jr. (Michele) of Youngsville NC. and their children; Gabriella Solomon (Andrew) of Florida, Marissa Matheny (Mitchell) of Hawaii, Dallin of Utah, and Seth of Utah. Matt Davis (Angie) of Edenton NC and their children; Camden of Raleigh, Avery of Utah, and Addison of Raleigh. Miles Davis (Lisa) of Louisburg NC and their children; Brennan (Paige) and their daughter Marilyn of Wake Forest, Brooke Champion (Seth) of Franklinton, Britney Greco (Anthony) of Raleigh, and Brayden of Raleigh. She will forever be remembered as "Grammy".



Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins in South Carolina, Durham, Charlotte, Creedmoor, Hillsborough, and Mebane NC.



She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Clarence Edward Williams, and the late Lela Ruth Ezzell Williams of Durham NC; brothers, Dallas Edward Williams of Durham NC and Thomas Lee Williams of Mebane NC; and sisters, Delcie Ruth Williams Jernigan of Charleston SC and Lucille Marie Williams O'Neill of Durham NC. Also, preceding her is a very special niece, Pamela Jean McGee of Summerville SC.



She was born and educated in Durham NC where she graduated from Durham High School. She attended Watts Hospital School of Nursing in Durham NC and graduated from Lees McRae College in Banner Elk NC with an Internship in Augusta, Georgia. She earned a degree of AA from Lees McRae and was a certified Medical Secretary.



Among her places of employment were the NC Tuberculosis Sanatorium in McCain NC, Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City Utah, Duke University Medical Center and McPherson Hospital in Durham NC, Franklin Regional Medical Center, Dr. John T Lloyd, Dr. Dean Jones, Louisburg Baptist Church, Pioneer Savings Bank, and Franklin County Schools, all in Louisburg NC.

Barbara was deeply devoted to her family, friends and her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Her faith in God saw her through many health trials. She will be forever loved and deeply missed.

The family received friends from 6-8 PM on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Bright Funeral Home, 405 S. Main St. Wake Forest, NC 27587.

A memorial service was held at 11 AM on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1524 Jenkins Rd, Wake Forest, NC 27587. She was buried at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens, 770 Stadium Dr. Wake Forest, NC 27587.

Serving as pallbearers were Andrew Solomon, Mitchell Matheny, Dallin Davis, Seth Davis, Camden Davis, Brayden Davis, Seth Champion, Anthony Greco, and Brennan Davis.
