Zachary Whaley Obituary

Zac was born and raised on Pulley Town Road, Zebulon, NC. Moving 3 miles down the road when he was 6 years old. Being homeschooled Zac had the opportunity to spend much of his days outside, arrowhead hunting, swimming, fishing, hunting, exploring, working with his father, playing, etc. He graduated from A to Z Christian Academy in 2012.

He worked many jobs that he loved, electrical, heavy equipment operator, drill operator, cook, box truck driver, and his favorite... buy, sell, and trade.

Being very artistic and talented, Zac was always making tools using his found artifacts, knives (either repurposed or homemade), or anything he wanted to work with. He loved metal work and made scrap metal yard art. He collected driftwood, oil lamps, antiques, and more.

Zac had a playful spirit with a heart of gold. He loved his family; especially his nieces and nephews always entertaining and playing with them. He will forever be in our hearts and deeply missed.

He is survived by his parents, Ashley E. and Amy E. Whaley, his sisters Amanda W. Jones (Russell), Melissa W. Herring, brother Robert A. Whaley (Heather), many nieces and nephews and one great nephew. Grandmother Jean D. Whaley and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who are like family.

Zac was preceded in death by his grandparents: Bill C. Whaley, Harold T. Elliott, and Patsy B. Morgan. Brother-n-law, Anthony Herring.

The family plans to receive visitors at their home, 5400 Pulley Town Road, Zebulon on Saturday, April 15th from 6pm until with a bonfire to celebrate Zac's life.

Zak you were such a big part of my family's life. You were and still are family. Ghazir was devastated when he heard you were gone. But after his tears died up he smiled and asked if you and his mom were friends. I told him yall were and he just smiled and said, "Thats good, they can hang out together." I love you Zach. I have 3 pieces of your amazing artwork and i feel honored and blessed to have them. They will always remind me of that bull headed, caring, amazing young man. God has a plan, faith will get your family through from now until we all meet again

Zac, buddy. I sure did enjoy att the great times we had, hunting arrowheads, fishing, and just finding junk and making something useful with them. You were an absolute great nephew and made my life better by knowing you. Enjoy your new life, I know you will be looking down on me leading me to that great find on arrowheads, sharks teeth and that perfect fishing hole where the big ones are hiding. Everytime I do any of these activities, I will always be thinking of you. Rest in Peson Buddy, I Love You!!!
