Shirley Peele Obituary

Shirley Jean Reams Peele departed this earth on May 6, 2025. She was born at home in Nash County, NC on January 13, 1942 to the late Woodrow Wilson Reams and Gladys Mae Patterson Reams. Her early years home was Nashville, NC, and on the family farm in Spring Hope, NC. She later made her home near Bailey with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Harold Ross Peele, son Donnie Harold Peele, baby boy Peele and sister, Margie Carlyle Tant. Jean was a seamstress and dry cleaner for over 30 years. She also helped tend her family's farm during that same time. She enjoyed flowers, country cooking, church outings, southern gospel music, helping people, traveling and her chihuahua, Tinker Bell. She is survived by her daughter Sherry Peele of Sharpsburg, NC, son, Kenneth Peele of the home, special best friend Fan Whitley of Spring Hope, NC, sisters-in-law Barbara Nell Moore of Spring Hope, NC, Evelyn Gray Peele of Raleigh, NC Joyce Peele of Gibsonville, NC, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and Tinker Bell of the home.Her fondest accomplishments were tending her home and raising her children, She was a grand lady, kind, stoic and loving. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her and all who knew her are happy and blessed to have known her.

Her children would like you to know that they considered it an honor and blessing for her to be their mother. "No one could have had a better mother." Sherry was her caregiver in the last years and feels honored and blessed to have been able to do this.Her race now run - she is on to heavens reward.In her immortal words we know we "best behave." Jean, Mama, friend, Mama Peele... we will miss you, and we pray to see you again soon. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025 starting at 7:00 p.m. at Shingleton Funeral Home, 2413 Nash St. NW, Wilson, NC 27894, with Bishop Stanley Gaskins, Bishop Bruce Brumfield and Pastor Eric Narron officiating. A visitation with the family will follow the service. Committal service will be conducted on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Bailey Town Cemetery.Arrangements entrusted to Shingleton Funeral Home 2413 Nash Street NW, Wilson, NC 27896.
