Even though I never got the chance to meet him, Mr. Charlie is one of my greatest inspirations for wanting to get into nature photography. My goal has always been to produce great works like his. I've been trying for the last few years to get a chance to see him in action at the Florence Club, where my dad works, and this year was finally going to be the year that dad was going to bring me whenever Mr. Charlie came over to take pictures. He will always be my inspiration and will always be in my thoughts as I'm capturing photos. He was truly a great photographer. I'm very sorry for your loss.

Charlie, I will miss your photos in my ebox and the exchange of information that you were more than happy to give. So glad you made your way to Gueydan many years ago to photo the birds in the area. You will be so missed. Rest well in God's peace.

Charlie was one of the most patient men I have ever known. I pulled up to him on Wright road near Gueydan in the Fall. He was sitting in his burgundy Suburban holding a camera with a lens that barely fit through the window. I stopped the car and he motioned me in. There began a friendship that has lasted for many years. His humor and self-deprecation of his photographic skills got to me. We still have signed prints of his favorite photos in our store and I'm not sure if I want to sell them now. You see he did his photographic processing work using his own enlarger and studio at home. So each print is a work of his hands from shutter to print. He will be sorely missed by me. RIP Charlie Hohorst.

I am so sad to hear about Charlie. Although I've known him since the 1960s (USL, Gaidry's, Partner's), I really got to know him when working with him on the bird book. I shall miss him. Please know I will keep him and all of the family in my prayers.

On behalf of Lafayette Ducks Unlimited I would like to thank and acknowledge Mr. Charlie for his support over the years. His waterfowl photography helped to show the beauty of both the marsh and the wildlife that calls it home. Thank you for caring about the ducks as much as we do.

To all of Charlie's family, including his sister Charlotte:
Although I have lived in Dallas almost 25 years, I still read the "Advertiser" online each day. I saw in today's edition that Charlie had passed. I have great memories of him and his prowess as a speck fisherman. We had many great trips offshore. I hope these words of condolence will bring some comfort to his family. He will truly be missed.

To my first cousins and their families, I send my condolences to you during this inconsolable time of sorrow. I had not seen Charlie Jr. in some years. I appreciated reading about his full life and the accomplishments he had, and the many people he encouraged and befriended. May you find peace and comfort in our Lord Jesus, the Great Comforter.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Charlie's family and loved ones. Charlie was always generous and giving, and brightened up the life of all whom he touched. He will be dearly missed, especially for me at this time of the year. We used to watch LSU games at Carabba's and spent many happy moments together.
