Jules Menou Arceneaux

LAFAYETTE - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 9, 2014 in Delhomme Funeral Home Chapel of the Flowers for Jules Menou Arceneaux, 89, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 8:20 am at his residence.

His son Reverend Jules M. Arceneaux, II, will be Celebrant of the Mass and Con Celebrants will be Reverend Thomas Voorhies, Reverend Hampton Davis and Reverend Michael Russo.

Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.

Jules, a resident of Lafayette, LA was the son of the late Eddie Arceneaux and the former Violet Menou.

Jules was the General Manager of Gammaloy, LTD from 1956 to retirement. He served as President of the Lafayette Parish Public Library from 1963 to 1977, during his tenure he oversaw the building of the Downtown Public Library receiving the Library Foundation's Major Donor Award in 1996. Jules served on the Board of Directors for the Lafayette Juvenile and Youth Association (LJYA) from 1972 to 1977. He was the recipient of the Lafayette Civic Cup in 1977, a Charter Member of the Lafayette Civitian Club, a Founding Partner of Le Triomph Golf Course Development, a Founding Partner of the Evangeline Race Track, and a member of the USL Rool-On Campaign.

His dedication to his Catholic faith community included serving as a member of the Deanery Council, Director of the Lafayette Catholic Social Service Centers, Inc. from 1996 to 1997, and a Charter Member of the St. Stanislaus Founders Club. At Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church he taught C.C.D. for 8 years, served on the Stewardship Committee for 2 years, served on the Parish Council for 12 years, the last two as President. He was a Trustee for 8 years and a member and President of the St. Vincent de Paul Society for 4 years. He was presented with the Bishops Medal in 1984.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty two years Patricia "Patty" Miller Arceneaux; his children, Mary Pat Falterman and husband Gerald "Joe", Reverend Jules M. Arceneaux, II, Mary Katherine "Keeny" Rigaud and husband Lew, Mary Alice Guedry and husband Juno, and Mary Margaret "Meg" Arceneaux; his grandchildren, Lindsey Rigaud, Jessica Rigaud Mayon, Ben Rigaud, Claire Guedry, Jules "Jay" Guedry, and Tristan McCaig.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand Drive Friday, August 8, 2014 from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm. A Wake Service and Rosary will be at 6:00 pm on Friday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue from 9:00 am on Saturday until the time of service.

Pallbearers will be Andre Arceneaux, Sr., Ben Rigaud, Jules "Jay" Guedry, Lew Rigaud, Juno Guedry, Joe Falterman and Chris Mayon.

The family would like to thank the caregivers, Judy Dupuis, Donna Patin, Kristie Melancon, Latanya Senegal and Carmen Downing for their care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Memorial Endowment, 2315 Johnston Street, Lafayette, Louisiana 70503.

So sorry for the passing of such and inspiring person. Menou was such a great friend to our parents as well as to all of us kids. He will be missed by all who have had the blessing of knowing him personally or thru business. The family of Fred and Mel Champion.
