LOREAUVILLE - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. Larry James Rochon 70 at 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 20, 2014 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Loreauville, LA, with Very Rev. Thomas James, SVD, VE and Rev. Joseph Padinjarepeedika, CMI, celebrants.

He will await the resurrection at Saint Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, Loreauville, LA.

A gathering of family and friends will begin on Monday at the funeral home 7 - 8:30 a.m. then resume at the church 9:00 A.M. with a rosary and ritual by the Knights of Peter Claver Council No. 63 at 10:00 A.M.

He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Lafayette, LA; a member of the Knights of Peter Claver Council No. 63 of New Iberia, LA; and a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He was director for SMILE for fifteen years; the chairman of the Board of Acadiana Legal Service for thirty years; lastly, he was president of the Sunlight Society of Olivier, Louisiana for twenty four years.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mrs. Ruby R. Rochon of Lafayette, LA; his mother Mrs. Delores L. Rochon of Loreauville, LA; one daughter, Lita Christophe (Mike) of Houston, TX; precious daughters, Willona Robertson, Dominic Vallier, Chatora Williams, Marietta Thomas, Cindy Demochet, Nakisha and Lakesha Linzer, Lakesha Lastrapes, Edele James, Dixie Roy, Lexie Aultman, Hannah Davis, Labreka Williams, Jasmine Chartaen, Taylre Brown, two brothers, Everette Charles Rochon, Sr. (Jacqueline) of Dallas, TX and Sylvester "Mac" Rochon (Dianna) of Piscataway, NJ; three grandchildren, Samantha, Briana and Analise Christophe, his mother-in-law Blanche Reed Pratt of New Orleans, LA; his sisters-in-law, Linda Paisant, Diane Green (Willie), Gail Davis (Kenneth), Brenda McCree (Mac), Tracie Copper (Validamir); brothers-in-law Frank Reed, Michael Reed (Marlene), Retired Judge Morris Reed (Hazel), Minister Terrence Reed (Stephanie), Kenneth Reed (Mary), two godchildren, India Eames of Houston, TX and Tanya Wallace of Jeanerette, LA, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Sylvester Rochon and maternal grandparents Otto Lewis and Marie B. Lewis; and paternal grandparents, Joseph Rochon and Virginia Castille Rochon.

Active pallbearers will be member of the Knights of Peter Claver Council No. 63.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Everette Rochon, Sr., Sylvester "Mac" Rochon, Alvin Jones, Raymond Fontenette, Kenneth Davis, Michael Reed, Edward Jones, Clifton Jackson, John Ford, Lyle Mouton, Mark Louis, and Members of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
