Lucy V. Arnaud

CARENCRO - Funeral services will be held Monday, July 20, 2015 at a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Lucy V. Arnaud, age 76, the former Lucy Valdez, who passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at her residence in Carencro. Mrs. Lucy had a peaceful death after a long battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family.

Interment will be in St. Peter's Catholic Church Mausoleum in Carencro. The Rev. Mark LeDoux, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

Musical selections will be provided by Valerie Andrus. The songs will be Amazing Grace, Hail Mary Gentle Woman, Here I Am Lord, One Bread, One Body, and Just A Closer Walk With Thee.

Lucy, born February 25, 1939, was a native and lifelong resident of Carencro. She was a very active parishioner of St. Peters Roman Catholic Church where she served as Eucharistic Minister and also gave communion at Evangeline Oaks Nursing Home. She was a member of the Bonne Mort Society, St. Anne Society, Sacred Heart Society, Come! Lord Jesus, Perpetual Adoration Chapel where she was an hourly coordinator and an adorer from the beginning in 1984 and prayer warrior for the sick. She served as a professor at the Cursillo Center for twenty-eight years where she coordinated English, Spanish and the handicap Cursillo's. She made her living Cursillo #77. She enjoyed sewing and quilting but most important, spending time with her family. Lucy had a very strong faith that she enjoyed sharing with others.

Now that her journey has ended and she is with her Lord Jesus Christ, she leaves behind her beloved husband of fifty eight years, Huey Arnaud; thirteen children, Becky Pomier and her husband, John, Andy Arnaud, Jr. and his wife, Clara, Ronni Tabor and her husband, Bryan, Toni Huval and her husband, Fran, Channa Faling and her husband, Martin, Michelle Champagne and her husband, Darrel, Carlos Arnaud and his wife, Cheryl, Charlotte Hukins and her husband, Colin, Jamie Arnaud and his wife, Sonia, Ricky Arnaud and his wife, Gina, Joey Arnaud and his wife, Jacqueline, Billy Arnaud and his wife, Jayná and Thomas Arnaud and his wife, Tania; one brother, Manuel Valdez and his wife, Olga; thirty eight grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Ramona Valdez; one sister, Grace; her maternal grandparents; and her paternal grandparents.

Rosaries will be prayed at 2:00 p.m. by St. Anne Society and 7:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home by the Cursillo Center.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at 10:30 a.m.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of NSI Hospice, NSI Nursing Specialist, Dr. Deborah Johnson and the Cancer Center of Acadiana and Lafayette General's nursing and certified nursing assistant staff.

In Lieu of Flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cursillo Center in memory of Lucy Arnaud and her living Cursillo #77. Please mail donations to Prairie Rhonde Cursillo Center, 3657 Hwy 104, Opelousas, LA 70570.

Pallbearers will be her seven sons, Andy, Carlos, Jamie, Ricky, Joey, Billy and Thomas.
