Nolan Paul Guidry, Sr.
LAFAYETTE - Nolan Paul Guidry, Sr., 73 years old, of Lafayette, LA was called home to glory on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 7:30pm at Hospice of Palm Beach County in West Palm Beach, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlton and Audrey (Malveaux) Guidry of Lafayette, LA; his brothers: Allton Guidry, Sr. (Vealla) of Morgan City LA, Carol Guidry (Olivia) of New Iberia, LA, Paul Harold Guidry (Margaret) of Morgan City, LA, Mervin Guidry of California; and his sisters: Helen Broussard (Marshall) of Lafayette, LA, and Alzina Charles (Sammy)of Morgan City, LA.
He leaves cherished memories to his adored wife of 42 years, Mary Ann Guidry; their beloved son, Nolan Guidry, Jr. and wife Stacey of Dallas, TX; their beloved daughter, Loy Haston and husband Henry Haston, Jr. of Royal Palm Beach, FL; his beloved daughter Miriam Bolden and husband Keith of Houma, LA; his beloved daughter Paula Walls of Houston, TX; his precious grandchildren Nala Guidry, Samar Guidry, Ahmad Haston, Kiah Haston, Jordan Bolden, and Jaret Bolden; He is also survived by his brother, Edward Guidry (Natalie) of Moreno Valley, CA; his sister, Anita Celestine (Joseph) of Riverside, CA; his sister Christina Barber (Charles) of Albany, NY; his sister Alberta Guidry of Lafayette, LA; his sister Selena Morgan (Amos) of Carencro, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Nolan was born on September 30, 1939 in Morgan City, LA and became a long time resident of Lafayette, LA. In 1969, he met and later married Mary Ann Guidry, who he loved faithfully for 42 years. Nolan built a loving and secure home for his family in Lafayette, LA. He was a true warrior of the Lord and was a devoted member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Lafayette, LA. There he served on the usher board for many years and helped his church family whenever needed. Since moving to Florida, Nolan became of a member of Our Lady Queen of Apostles where he faithfully served in spirit. Nolan enjoyed hunting, fishing, barbecuing and was happiest when spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Nolan retired from 37 years with McDonald Oil Tool Company in Lafayette, LA. After retirement, his hobby was landscaping for family and friends, serving at church and waking up for his early morning walk. As Nolan's favorite saying goes, "You better believe it", he lived a life of service, always helping family and friends.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Palms West Funeral Home on Monday, January 7th from 9am - 11am. A Rosary will be prayed Monday at 9:30am at Palms West Funeral Home.
The Funeral will be held on Monday, January 7th at an 11:30am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Apostle Catholic Church in Royal Palm Beach, FL.
Interment will be in Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery in Royal Palm Beach, FL.
