Paul Nelson "Bruce" Broussard

LAFAYETTE - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 7, 2014 in the Delhomme Funeral Home Chapel of the Flowers for Paul Nelson "Bruce" Broussard, 83, who passed away on Monday, August 4, 2014 at 12:23 pm at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Reverend Michael DeBlanc, Associate Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services.

Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.

Paul, a resident of Lafayette, LA was the son of the late Willie Broussard and the former Bertha Lanerie.

Bruce served his country during World War II having served in the U.S. Army. Upon his return from the service, he started his career with Dowell until his retirement in 1980. He was owner of Bruce's Grocery and Market and Bruce's-U-Need A Butcher from 1980 until 1999. He loved to spend time at his camp fishing, and camping with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing music whenever he had the chance, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty three years Elizabeth Helen Broussard; his children, Sheila B. Courville, Charlotte B. Dwyer and husband James, Sharon Broussard, Judy Arnold and husband Greg; his grandchildren, Cole Courville and wife Amber, Andre Courville, Savannah Arnold, Logan Arnold; great grandchildren, Tanner Courville and Ana-Claire Courville; his sister, Theresa B. Duhon; his brother, Willis Broussard and wife Grace.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son-in-law Kirk E. Courville, his sisters, Hazel David, Birdie Bourque and Beverly Trahan, his brothers, Ashby, Howard, Shirley Anthony and Paul Broussard.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home Bertrand Drive on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm on Wednesday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue Thursday, August 7, 2014 from 8:00AM until the time of service.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Boutin, James Touchet, Cole Courville, James Dwyer, Emery Begnaud and Ken David Zeringue. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tanner Courville and Ana-Claire Courville.
