Robert Melancon Obituary
Youngsville - A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Robert H. Melancon, 95, will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at St. Anne Catholic Church with Fr. Jody Simoneaux officiating. Interment will follow at St. Anne Mausoleum.
Visitation will be at St. Anne Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 1:00PM until the time of the services.
A native and resident of Youngsville Mr. Melancon died at 6:45PM on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Camelot of Broussard. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during WWII. After the military he received a degree from SLI and began teaching. He taught in Lafayette Parish Schools for over 25 years. He was also a self taught carpenter and painter which he did for many years while teaching, then full time after retiring. During retirement he also served as building inspector for the Town of Youngsville for over 12 years. Mr. Robert was a very kind man.
He is survived by two step daughters, Stephanie Macaluso and Juliana Ransonet; two step sons, Thomas Malagarie and John Malagarie; two brothers, Henry Melancon and Archie Melancon; and numerous Step grandchildren and Step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Della David; his second wife, Adele H. Melancon; and his parents, Robert L. and Cleoma Broussard Melancon.
Serving as pallbearers will be A.J. Macaluso, Lee Ford, Danny Guillot, Jeremy Hebert, John Malagarie, and Troy Comeaux.
Mr. Robert's family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of Camelot of Broussard and Acadiana Hospice and Palliative Care.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Acadiana Hospice and Palliative Care.
David Funeral Home of Lafayette at 316 Youngsville Hwy (337)837-9887 will be handling the arrangement.

I was saddened to read of Mr. Melancon's passing. As a former student of Youngsville High School, I remember him as being a kind and gentle teacher who made his students feel special in the classroom. RIP, Mr. Melancon
