Lafayette - Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, April 28, 2018 in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers - Bertrand for Ronald Richard Beattie, 80, who passed away on April 25, 2018.

Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Ron, as he was commonly known by those who knew him, was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 17, 1938. He served in the United States Army and was wounded during the Korean War. He went on to serve in the United States Coast Guard during the 1950s and 60s. Ron enthusiastically served the community of Lafayette, Louisiana, as a member of the local Lions Club.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Beattie; parents, Herbert Russell Beattie and Ruth Ella Beattie Ferguson; two brothers, U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer, William Ernest Beattie and Sergeant First Class, Vero Donald Beattie; sister, Geraldine Zeedyk and step-son, David Beattie.

His surviving relatives include two step-daughters, Kimberly Melancon and Denise Melancon Sonnier and her husband, Steve, and one step-son, Kenneth Melancon and wife Tara; two sons, Ronald and Donald Beattie; one daughter, Kari Beattie and one sister in law, Gerlinde Beattie Stephens. Ron is also survived by his grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as several nephews and nieces and their children.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 10:00AM until the time of service.
