Aaron Brown Sr. Obituary

Aaron C. Brown, Sr. passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the age of 85. He was born April 5, 1939, in Morrilton, Arkansas to Joseph Adam Brown and Grace Mae Thompson Brown. He met the love of his life, Lynda, while she was on vacation in Louisiana. After two years of dating, he proposed, and they began their marriage in Baton Rouge. Just two months later, Aaron was deployed with the United States Army for two years. He always had the strongest work ethic, even attending night classes at LSU, while working a full-time job. Aaron later joined Waskey Bridges, retiring as their Yard Superintendent, after 37 years of dedicated service in the precast bridge construction industry. He was smart, kind, funny and was definitely one-of-a-kind! Aaron was a friend to everyone and truly enjoyed people. This is evident by the fact that he is still in communication with his sons' friends from high school – he was a second dad to so many. He enjoyed sports, especially LSU baseball, rarely missing a game. Aaron could fix anything, enjoyed working on a tractor and golf carts, but when Lynda needed something fixed, she always took priority. He was well known for his gardening skills, including corn, tomatoes and peaches. Aaron is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers William Brown and J.B. Brown, and his sister Betty Templeton. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Lynda Magee Brown; their sons Aaron C. Brown, Jr. and his wife Michelle, and Wendell J. Brown and wife Aleata; his beloved grandchildren Aaron C. Brown, III and his wife Taylor, Shelby Brown, Kelsey Brown, Jason Brown and Josh Harris; and great-grandchild, Theodore Ford Brown. He is also survived by his sisters Ida Mae Jenkins, June Dicus and Nila Bailey; as well as numerous other loving family and friends. The family would like to acknowledge Dr. Kevin Reed for his support and friendship through the years, and Clarity Hospice, especially Virginia and Paulette, for their care of Aaron during this time. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge. A Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Proudly serving as pallbearers are Jason Brown, Aaron C. Brown III, Joe Turner, Kevin French, Colt Valentine and Josh Harris. The honorary pallbearers are Marshall Gammon, Dwayne "G" Bernard and Elmo Mackey. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook or leave a personal note to the family at www.resthavenbatonrouge.com.
