Alfred Laurent Obituary

A resident and native of New Roads, he died Monday, July 28, 2008, at his home. He was 65 and a retired woodyard operator. Visiting at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Roads, on Thursday, July 31, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Henry Vavasseur. Interment in False River Memorial Park, New Roads. Survived by his wife of 46 years, Margaret Ann Vavasseur Laurent, of New Roads; three daughters, Janice Ann Laurent LaCombe, of Baton Rouge, Annette Margaret Laurent Mayeaux and husband Howard, of Simmesport, and Lynnette Marie Laurent Hotard, of New Roads; son, Alfred Michael Laurent Jr. and wife Rhonda Chustz Laurent, of Morganza; two sisters, Betty "Bettee" Stonaker and Cindy Laurent Conner, both of Fredericksburg, Texas; three brothers, Arthur Laurent Jr., Will Laurent and Jerry Laurent, all of New Roads; and five grandchildren, Brittany and Alexandra LaCombe, Miranda Hotard and Avery and Maddison Laurent. Preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Laurent Sr. and Josephine Bourg Laurent. Pallbearers will be Joseph Langlois, Larry Guilbeau, Jimmy Davis, Troy Laurent, David Bryan and Mike Vavasseur. Honorary pallbearers are James Manuel, Steve LaCombe and Stafford Chenevert. Arrangements by Niland's Funeral Service Inc., New Roads.

Mrs. Margaret & Family,

I am so sorry for the lost of one great man. I will never forget him and all my summer trips to Bilioxi and all the partys we had the childhood memories are the greatest and thanks for making my life so special by sharing a part of this wonderful man with me. I am your neighbor and always will be your friend who is here for you when ever you need something.

First and for most i would like to thank each and every person who showed up as well as thank you for your support.
My grandfather was an AMAZING man and i will never forget him.
This week i've spent alot of time recalling some of my fondest memories of him and i realized there were soo many. the ones i will cherish the most would probally be when he would wake me up and the crack of dawn and drag me out of the house so we could go fishing on false river. those days can never be replaced.
i also recall the day i said i wanted a basketball goal so i could start playing and wouldn't you guess the next week i woke up to find a basketball goal in our back yard.
I LOVE YOU POP ALWAYS WILL AND I CAN REST EASY KNOWING YOUR IN A BETTER PLACE KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR ME AND ONDA AND PARRAN PLEASE!
