Aline Vernon Campbell

Campbell, Aline Vernon (Mrs. John S. Campbell) A resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Bienville Parish, she died Sunday, March 12, 2006, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 98. Aline taught school in Bienville Parish and moved to Baton Rouge in 1938. She was employed at the LSU Book Store from 1941 to 1945. From 1945 to 1958, she worked at Twin Cedars Grocery with her brother, Byron Murphy Vernon. She worked for the Louisiana Department of Aging from its conception 1958 until her retirement in 1980. She attended Grace Baptist Church until she was a charter member in establishing Goodwood Baptist Church. Visitation was at Welsh Funeral Home, 6700 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday March 14, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Service at Goodwood Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by Dr. Terry Ellis and the Rev. Mitch Harris. Interment at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Liberty Hill Cemetery in Bienville Parish. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Mary Sue Harrison Vernon; two nieces, Betty Byron Vernon of Sacramento, Calif., and Sharon Vernon Siddons and husband Doyle Siddons of Dallas; and great-nephews, Scott Vernon, wife Juliet and their twin daughters, Sarah Vernon and Ashley Lynes Siddons, all of Dallas; Jason Sherman Siddons and his son, Gibson Ivan Siddons, of Orange, Calif.; and Chad Key Siddons, wife Whitney and their daughters, Carolina Campbell and Piper Avery, of Fairfax, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Sherman; brothers, Byron Murphy Vernon and Elton Vernon; mother, Ermir Murphy Vernon; and father, John Stephen Vernon.
