No words can express the pain that I am feeling....I sit day by day and wait for the phone to ring with you on the other end.....I try to tell myself that this is only a dream....How I would give anything to hear your voice right now....I know you are with me in sprit but there is nothing like having you here.....We have so many memories that we have shared over the years, who could have asked for a better sibling.....You have always been there for me even if I didn't want you to but I guess that is what a "big brother" is suppose to do.....If I've never said it before "THANK YOU" for everything that you have done for me, "THANK YOU" for being there for my children when you didn't have to.....My heart is aching and my eyes are full but I know that you are in a better place.....No more pain, no more doctors blissful peace from now on......I know you are having the time of your life in heaven just as you did here on earth....I remember the last time we were together (in New Orleans Fourth of July 2010) we had the time of our life.....Now it's time for you to rest my love and wait for me to get there so we can once again greet each other saying "HEY BABY"!!

Mrs. Yvonne

I must say your son was one young man I admired. His manners, he was always pleasant with that smile on his face.
There is one thing I knew about Alphonso, he loved his mother.
May you find comfort in knowing that he was a good young man.
My sister was one of his client at Holistic. He gave his BEST to his clients.
He will be sorely missed.

Who didn't simply say the name and have great expectations!?! ALPHONSO! I learned that name in 4th or 5th grade at Banks Elementary in Ruby James n Leo Brownfield's classes. He bought a silly kind of joy to Banks, our city and those who knew him. His life had purpose n challenged all of us to dare to embrace our own individuality. Well lived dear friend, I thank God for your design today.

Yvonne, I know the hurt that you feel, but through time it will get better but the thoughts won't go away, and it will not happen over night. As you reflect back on Gerard, just think on the good times you all had together because I promise this will get you through. There is no hurt like releasing a child back to their heavenly father, but for one thing we do know that God always wants the best. Gerard was sooo much fun to be around, he kept us all laughing and we will see him again, just live for the Lord. We will continue to pray for strength. Be Prayerful Always

Alphonso, my dear friend, I love you. Last time we spoke you said something that stays with me till this day. I asked you if you had a significant other and you laughingly said, "I AM my significant other. You have to love yourself." No one could have said it better. Your words of wisdom guide my every thought these days. I miss you.

To Debbie and the rest of Our Family:

What we see is that God has taken a loved one from us. Our flesh feels much pain and will need time to heal but if we hold on to God's unchanging hand and know that Alphonso is with Our Heavenly Father with time the pain will become bearable. We will always carry him in our hearts for the memories cannot be erased. Trust God and know that he we are not alone and we must work each day to put God first and include him in all that we do so that we may see Alphonso again.

Rejoice for all is well and remember that God's Grace is sufficient!!

To The Johnson Famile,

Gerard was loved by everyone!!

When my spirit is bound by earthly chains

Of worry and heartache - and all that remains

Is to finish the task, and get through the day -

Oh, Lord, I ask, show me a better way!!

And we will mount up on high with wings like an eagle.

All our troubles below seem so small from above.

We will learn how to fly - far away from all evil,

Upheld by the strength of His Glorious Love!

If you wait on the Lord, your strength will renew.

Spend time with the Father, and the Son will shine through.

With one wing we trust, and the other, obey -

Unfettered by doubt - we fly away!

And we will mount up on high with wings like an eagle.

All fear falls behind as we focus above.

We will learn how to fly - far away from all evil

Caught up in the joy of His Wonderful Love -

We will soar through the sky - as free as an eagle.

All our troubles below seem so small from above.

We will learn how to fly - far away from all evil,

Upheld by the strength of His Glorious Love!

Upheld by the strength of His Glorious Love!

To the family and friends of Alphonso "Phons" Johnson, we have each lost a very special part of our lives. To have known him is to have loved him. My heart breaks and my heart aches for each of us as we grieve in our own way. May our memories of time and laughter shared comfort us. God lent us an angel and now its our turn to release him back to his heavenly home. Indeed he will be missed, but feel him in the warm summer breeze, listen for his laughter and the popping of his gum in the wind; remember him in the sweet fragrances you smell (Issy Myaki!). Mourn as long as you need to but find joy and peace in the process. Embrace those you love closer, and remember the admoninitions of our dear friend, (for I know we have ALL been admonished by him!). "This don't make no sense. Get it together". Heed his words, remember his wisdom and determine to see him once more. May blessings and peace abound.

Matthew 11:25-30
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family. It is still hard to grasp that you are gone Alphonso. Each day I read your page and hope that this is some terrible mistake. I'm trying to remember your humor and mother wit and use it to help all of the many friends that are, like me, still trying to come to terms with this. I know you are in a better place and for that I am glad. I only grieve for us that were left here without you.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
