Andrew McEwen Obituary

On July 18, 2015, we lost our only beloved son unexpectedly and tragically, too early at age 30. Andrew was born in New Orleans but grew up in Baton Rouge where he attended Episcopal High School and LSU. He later went on to attain his professional certification as a CISSP (Certified Information Security Systems Professional). Along with his best friend Muhannad Elsanousy, he founded his highly successful international Bitcoin arbitrage company, Aurumboros, in which he served as CEO. Andrew had a truly unique sense of humor as well as a soft kind heart and was always there for a friend in need. He enjoyed disc golf, jet skiing and taking long walks around the LSU lakes with friends. He was an avid movie buff and loved playing video games as well as financial trading in stocks, commodities, and forex, in addition to bitcoin. He was preceded in death by grandparents Dick and Cathy McEwen and Paul Murphy, as well as his uncle Rick McEwen. He is survived by his mother Lynn Murphy MD, his father Christopher McEwen MD, and his grandmother Margo Murphy, as well as aunts Linda McEwen and Ann McEwen. Cousins include Sarah Reed, Alden McEwen MD, Dan McFatter, and Lauren McFatter. Visitation will begin at noon this Saturday, July 25th, followed by a funeral service at two, both at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge. With Andrew's passing the world has lost one of its most uniquely creative intellects as well as a loyal, caring friend to many. Our darling son will forever be so desperately missed. Family and friends may sign the online guest book or leave a personal note to the family at www.resthavenbatonrouge.com. Resthaven Gardens of Memory Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Dear Andrew, I remember how you and Elissa spent hours arguing about various issues that you both felt strongly about, or discussed books or movies you had read or seen, or the use of words to describe things. You played old fashioned games, went for walks or runs and watched late night TV. We always loved having you at the dinner table. Your presence ensured having lively conversations about interesting topics. You were so smart. I am so glad you were part of our life for a brief moment. We will all miss you so much.
