Barbara Strother Obituary

Funeral Services for Barbara Peavy Strother will be held on Saturday, September 14th, at First Baptist Church of Port Allen, beginning with visitation at 9:30 a.m. followed by religious services starting at 11:30 am conducted by Rev. Gray Pearson. Burial will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory in Baton Rouge. Barbara Peavy Strother passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at the age of 83 at the Guest House in Baton Rouge. Barbara was a native and resident of Port Allen. Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a caretaker through and through. Barbara loved the Lord and joyfully served in many capacities at her church, First Baptist Church in Port Allen. She was a devoted Sunday School teacher for over 40 years serving God's little ones. Barbara leaves behind a legacy of generosity and dedication of her many acts of service serving her community. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ronnie W. Strother; her three children, Teryl Strother, Sharyn Strother, and Rondal "Shayne" Strother and wife Maria LeBlanc Strother; three grandchildren, Barbara Ann Strother Montes and husband Gabe, Elise Marie Strother, Thomas James Strother; two step-grandchildren, Miranda and Arielle; two great-grandchildren, Carter and Jade; two step-great-grandchildren, Lillian and Eamon; siblings, Richard Donald Peavy and wife Darlene, Robert Peavy and wife Wendy. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, James and Jessie Jones Peavy; siblings, Carl Peavy, Jerry Peavy, Jimmy Gibson and David Cupit. Please share memories at www.wilbertservices.com.
