Bobby Gene Stevens

A native and longtime resident of Gloster, Miss., he died Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at Liberty Community Living Center in Liberty, Miss. He was 77, born Feb. 1, 1933, in Wilkinson County, Miss., to Louis Stevens and Isa Brown Stevens. He was a carpenter and retired from Georgia-Pacific Corp. in Gloster. In his lifetime, he had been a member of the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Posse and also enjoyed riding horses and listening to bluegrass music. He is survived by four sons, Larry Stevens, of Clinton, Ricky Stevens, of Zachary, Bobby Glenn Stevens, of Indiana, and Glenn Stevens, of Gloster; a daughter, Benita Battles, of Utica, Miss.; two sisters, Elsie Butler and Marie Everette, both of St. Amant; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and two sisters. Visiting at Brown Funeral Home, Gloster, on Saturday, Feb. 27, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home chapel on Sunday, Feb. 28, from 1 p.m. until funeral service at 3 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Robert Toney. Interment in Mount Carmel Cemetery near Gloster.
