Claude Noel Dugas Sr.

Claude Dugas Obituary

A loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, he has gone to be with his Lord and to spend his birthday with Jesus. He was born Dec. 25, 1926, in Belle Rose, and died at 12:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. He was 83 and a heavy equipment operator who retired from Solvay/Formosa with 35 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II who served in the Pacific Theater. Claude was a member of the Baton Rouge Harley Owners Group. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Sunday, Dec. 12, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation continues at the funeral home chapel on Monday from noon until the religious service at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Lester May. Interment with military honors will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Travis Dugas; daughters, Claudette Bruner, Sheilah Robin and Sandra Dugas, all of Denham Springs; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Nancy Dugas, of Glynn; 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Annie Tolusso, Mildred Garrrison and Aline Ellis and husband Richard; and numerous nieces and nephews. Claude was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy N. "Susie" Dugas; son, Claude Dugas Jr.; granddaughter, Naomi Dugas; brother, Melvin J. Dugas; and parents, Adam and Philomene Dugas. Pallbearers will be Rob Wilson, Gary Coates Jr., T.J. Bruner, Josh Bruner, his nephew, Michael Parnell, and friends, John Teche Jr., Charles Powell Jr. and Gary Coats Sr. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. The family wishes to thank Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and The Carpenter House for all their love and care.

Sheilah, Claudette, Saundra, Ricky, Nancy - Best Uncle ever! So many wonderful childhood memories of him and Aunt Suzy that have carried me through many sad times. I always think of him and each of you with a smile in my heart. All of you are in our prayers here in Texas. Love and miss each of you.
