NUBA-Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Greater Shiloh Baptist Church in Nuba, LA for Mr. Daniel J. Stephens a/k/a "Killa Dan", 33, who entered eternal rest on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at his residence in Lafayette, LA. Interment will be in Holy Family Cemetery in Lawtell, LA. Rev. Eric Dupre, Associate Pastor of Greater Shiloh Baptist Church, will be officiating the funeral service. Mr. Stephens was a member of Living Faith Christian Center of Baton Rouge, LA. He was known as "Killa Dan" on the football field but he was a Gentle Giant with a Gentle Heart off the field. He played for the Southern University Jaguars Football Team and SFL (Stars Football League) Semi Pro New Orleans Jazz. He was an independent contractor. He was affiliated with Young Hip Hop Movement, Sky High Production and Killa Konnection Productions. Mr. Stephens leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Cashara Edgerson Stephens of Lafayette, LA; his father, Shedrick Stephens and his mother, Rita Riggs Stephens, both of Baton Rouge, LA; paternal grandmother, Willie Mae Stephens of Dallas, TX; his father-in-law, Elton Edgerson, Jr. of Shreveport, LA; one son, Cameron Edgerson of Lafayette, LA; one daughter, Cyann Mora of Lafayette, LA; three brothers, Shadrach (Marie) Stephens of Houston, TX, Meshach (Latrice Banks Stephens) Stephens and Abendego (Casey) Stephens, both of Baton Rouge, LA; three sisters-in-law, Cassandra Edgerson, Erica Gaines and Jeovannah Edgerson; three brothers-in-law, Eldrich Edgerson, Elton Edgerson, III and Bryce Edgerson; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by: his mother-in-law, Lorraine Edgerson; maternal grandparents, Cora Mae Riggs and Joseph Riggs; paternal grandfather, Rev. Martin Stephens; and two brothers-in-law, Ellis and Johnathan Edgerson. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Greater Shiloh Baptist Church. ** Please be advised we will adhere to the safety measures and precautions provided by the state of Louisiana due to Covid-19.
