David John Himel

David John Himel, a lifelong resident of Gonzales, LA, passed away on July 24, 2024, at the age of 62. David worked as a self-employed carpenter for many years before concluding his career at the Ascension Parish School Board Maintenance Department. He was known for his craftsmanship and dedication to his work. An enthusiastic football fan, David passionately supported the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints. He also cherished moments spent fishing, boating, and vacationing with his beloved family. David was preceded in death by his father, Benny Himel; mother, Mary Ann Himel; father-in-law, Walter Guy Settoon; and mother-in-law, Gloria Settoon. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Ramona Settoon Himel; his daughter, Ashley Johnson (Byron); his son, Clint Himel (Katie); and his cherished granddaughters, Camille and Cecilia Himel, and Landry Johnson. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation, which will be held at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church on Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. A committal service will follow at Hope Haven Cemetery on Highway 30 in Gonzales. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church. The family extends their sincere gratitude to St. Joseph's Hospice for their compassionate care and support during David's illness.
