David Gerard Honoré

1954 - 2022

Born to Sylvia and Stanford Honoré on August 19, 1954, David Gerard Honoré persevered through many of life's highs and lows with a steadfast faith and deep devotion to God and prayer. A forgiving and gentle soul, David always counted his blessings, never turned his back on his loved ones, and was always quick to credit and acknowledge another person's contributions and gifts. Fiercely loyal, David took his role as eldest seriously and remained a consummate protector to us all: his brother, Chris, his younger cousins, and later his beloved nieces. As we headed out into the world, not only did he teach us to be careful and to strategically assess the situations around us, but he also always reminded us, "If you need me, come find me." Even as he suffered the loss of his dear mother, Sylvia, Dave took his younger cousins out onto our grandparents' front porch and encouraged us all to trust God's plan and to find joy in celebrating her precious life. A dedicated sports fan, Dave loved to attend LSU games – fully decked out in his Alabama gear! And in this most-recent football season, David remained glued to the TV as he cheered the Crimson Tide on to another championship game. David leaves his cherished nieces, Whitney, Katelyn, and Kennedy, as well as a great-nephew Samuel Joseph and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Most dear is his friend, Michelle Marionneaux, who took special care of him through to the end when he was in his greatest need. David is preceded in death by his mother Sylvia Ricard, father Stanford, and brothers Stephen Phillip and Joseph Christopher. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. followed by mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lakeland. Interment will immediately follow at Chenal Cemetery.
