Dolores D. Collier, 91, passed away peacefully under hospice care at her home on Thursday, August 29, 2024. Dolores was born in Donaldsonville, Louisiana and moved to Baton Rouge in her teens and graduated from Istrouma High School. Dolores retired in 1998 after working as a bank teller for Capital Bank and eventually Regions Bank for a total of 33 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, B.D. Collier, who passed away in 2007. Dolores was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a terrific cook, especially with her signature dish, roast and rice and gravy. She loved gardening and watching sports, especially LSU, and was a devoted fan of her kids' and grandkids' activities. All who knew her will miss her smile that could light up a room, her sense of humor, and her unwavering devotion to family. Although she raised four loud, outspoken children, Dolores had a quiet demeanor, but when she spoke, her words were full of wisdom. Dolores is survived by her daughter, Darlene Landry; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Cindy Collier; daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Craig Hanks; and daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Brad Lambert. Dolores was a cherished "Granny" to seven grandchildren and their partners, Taylor and Caroline Landry, Derek Landry and Aimee Reese, Michael and Amber Collier, Lauren and Blake Taylor, Madison Collier, Brennan Lambert, and Emma Grace Lambert. She also adored her five great-grandchildren, Priscilla Landry; Jillian, Annie and Meredith Collier; and Julia Landry. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, John and Loretta Doran; and six siblings, Pat Doran, Eddie Doran, Marion Lavverne, Mary Ellen Duplechon, and Dorothy "Dot" Adams. A visitation for Dolores will be held Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Most Blessed Sacrament, 15615 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. Dolores will be laid to rest in Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge, LA. Pallbearers will be Taylor Landry, Michael Collier, Derek Landry, Brennan Lambert, Brad Lambert and Craig Hanks. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Audubon Hospice as well as sitters from A Plus Caring Hearts: Latrice Young, Tammy Johnson, and Patrice Harvey. The family would like to especially thank sitter Mae Tucker, who for the last 18 months has shown our mother and our entire family her love, compassion, and devotion. Memorial donations may be made to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank or Alzheimer's Service of the Capital Area. Please visit
