Words can't express how sorry I am. There was never a dull moment with Doug in the room. His personality made him unforgettable and I'm sure it's double-trouble in heaven now. He always was ambitious and accomplished so much in life because you were by his side the whole time. The tragedy with your mom made you one of the strongest people I know and will help you relate to the kids on a level other parents in your situation can't. I pray that you feel God's presence as he continues to provide you and your family the strength and grace you need to get through this storm. I'm here if you ever need to talk.

Trish, I am so sorry to hear about Doug passing away. He was always full of joy and smiling. I instantly thought of our days at River West with him and Ray with their humor, their stories, always seemed to be in a good mood and how much their families met to them both. He was truly a good person and will be missed deeply by everyone fortunate enough to have known him and work with him. There truly are no words to lessen your pain.

I truly have no word that will adequately convey my grief and sadness, so I won't try. I feel blessed to have had him in my life and will always remember those days as the best in my professional life. As CEO of SVRMC, Doug was my Boss. I first met and spent a considerable amount of time him during his interview process, and from that time until this, have always view him as not only my friend, but a member of my family. As an only child, I don't know firsthand the love one has for a sibling, but I can't imagine loving one more! While I have never had the pleasure of meeting Doug's wife and children, I did have the privilege of knowing him through our medical office when he was in Lancaster. Words are wholly lacking in sufficiency to express my sadness regarding the untimely death of your husband and father, and my friend. The obituary on this site is, in my view, spot on. Most everyone knows what I know—that Doug touched many lives. He was indeed the “life of the party”, humble, compassionate and caring. For the time that he and your family spent with us, he was the best of friends. When he listened, I felt what I was saying was the most important thing on earth he had ever heard (no matter how unimportant my topic); and that made me feel special. He helped me personally through many rough times, and fortunately we shared many good times, which I fondly remember. I am most blessed that I had the pleasure of knowing him. He will indeed be greatly missed. Our family is greatly saddened; and we can only imagine what you are going through. Tricia, I was deeply saddened to hear of Doug's passing. He really was the "life of the party," whether in a social setting or even the workplace. He was a joy to those around him, and everyone who knew him knew things would get interesting the minute he walked in the door! Some of my fondest memories of River West involved him and Ray with their playful back-and-forth banter; good-natured humor; and countless colorful jokes, stories, and remarks. It was obvious that Doug had a zest for life, and his witty intelligence and just his general "way" with people endeared him to many. He was truly a remarkable person... and, he will be missed.
Please know that you, the children, and your families are in my thoughts and prayers. There truly are no words to lessen your pain, but Doug left behind quite a legacy for you all by helping a multitude of people and touching their lives in countless positive ways... and, God reserves that gift for only a select few.

I am so sorry and shocked to hear of Doug's passing. Doug and I were such good friends in high school. He was funny and always had a good time. And the stories I could tell! I remember him saying he wanted to be a doctor. He was so smart. He was also the go-to-guy in floral arrangements back in high school. Through circumstances and time, we lost touch when I moved to Texas 25 years ago. My heart has been heavy since Saturday when I heard the news. I know how you, Ms. Pearl are with your kids, like my own mama-It will be hard to recover. I am so saddened for you. I've been praying for God to put his hands on all of you and give you strength. I was glad to hear that Doug was happy and had more family to raise and that he was a success in healthcare. My heart goes out to his wife and young children and Mallory and Erica.

I'm at a loss for words but can honestly say that were an amazing person, kind, caring, compassionate, and loving to all who knew you. Maw Maw would always tell me when I was little to be like you, Bennie, Ray, Mickey and Paw Paw. I was too small then to realize what she meant, but as a man I know exactly what she meant. I've always looked up to you and you were that positive example that was a big influence to me.
