Eloise Albares Obituary

Eloise Gabriel Martin Albares born in Baldwin, Louisiana on January 27, 1931 was called to her eternal home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 28, 2021. To receive her there was her husband of 72 years, Edwin "Black" Joseph Albares. She is survived by eight children, Constance "Connie" Rogers, Edwin Bernard "Bernie" Albares, Jan Wood, husband Bill, Dan Albares, wife Dorcas, Joy Clement, husband Barry, Tracie Achee, Tina Trosclair, husband Vern, and Robert Albares, wife Monique. She is the Matriarch of 30 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren along with a host of nieces and nephews, many living in the Houma-Thibodaux Area. The last surviving sibling of nine Martin Children, she was preceded in passing by brothers, Alton "Preacher", Ernest, Ludwig, and Francis and sisters, Milda Denton, Jeanne Martin, Genevieve Boudreaux, and Ethel Lowery, father, Bernard Armand Martin and mother, Gabrielle Derise Martin. Also, preceded in passing great-grand daughters, Elizabeth Ann "Lizzy" Clement and Eliza Gabrielle Benson. With such a large family, she had little time for hobbies. She was a stellar seamstress and sewed beautiful heirloom quality clothing for her children and grandchildren. As an excellent cook and baker she prepared Sunday Lunch faithfully to hold her family together. Her sense of humor was such a strong part of her character, she was named wittiest student throughout her time at Franklin High School. Eloise served her community by substitute teaching at Caldwell Middle, teaching religion, and being a Brownie and Girl Scout Instructor. She was a foster parent and shared her time with the elderly and the less fortunate. Many times she spent hours on the phone and in person ministering to those in need. She enjoyed sharing her personal stories of faith, healing, and the teachings of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She loved being surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Living Word Church in Gray, Louisiana served as her home church for 38 years where her ministry of helps was utilized in service to both the church and the school. Her specialty was intercessory prayer. Often referred to as a "prayer warrior" she was called on by many for prayer in their time of need. Her heart was that of a servant. A Christian Memorial Service will be held at Living Word Church, 1916 Hwy 311 Schriever, LA 70395 on Saturday April 3, 2021 at 4P to honor Eloise and husband, Edwin, who passed on the 25th of January. All friends and family are encouraged to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Monique Albares ALS Fund (Venmo@Monique-Albares) or https://gofund.me/8fbd36a8 in her honor. Hallelujah! She's with the king! Samart Funeral Home of Houma, West Park is in charge of arrangements.
