Floyd A. Vercher

1941 - 2024

Floyd A. Vercher, born on July 9, 1941, a native Louisianian and a long time resident of Canyon Lake TX, died on August 23, 2024 at the age of 83 of natural causes. While serving in the U.S. Navy, Floyd became a baker and could master any cake. His passion for cake decorating won him an award while in the Navy which led to a lifelong career in baking and cake decorating. He eventually opened his own bakery and went on to work at Dawn Foods Products, a national bakery goods supplier, where he retired at age 62. His love for music was seen and felt by everyone around him. Being a self taught guitar player, he wrote several songs and shared his hobby with anyone who would listen. Floyd was hilariously witty and loved a good day of fishing. He is survived by his son David Vercher (Angie) and daughter Dawn Mire (Bert), sisters Betty Jean Basham and Darlene LaFleur. Grandchildren, Paris Vercher, Jonathan Perck, Joshua Perck and Jessica Perck as well as several wonderful great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Floyd was preceded in death by father Woodrow Vercher and Mother Louella Tobin Hunter and his first born son, Floyd Vercher Jr, as well as siblings, Tammy Lee, Beverly Hunter, Karl Hunter, Jr, Caroll Vercher, and Norman Hunter. Private graveside military service will be held at Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary, LA at 10:00AM on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.
