Frank Turk Obituary

Frank Paul Turk, Jr. passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 at age 77. He was born in Baton Rouge, LA November 19, 1935 and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Baton Rouge High School and earned a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering from LSU. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Special Skills Unit. He retired in 1995 after 38 years of employment at Exxon refinery in Baton Rouge. He was married to Marilyn Bordelon and was the proud and loving father of two children. He will be remembered as a man who placed emphasis on family life and friendship. He was an avid gardener and fisherman and enjoyed working with Boy Scouts and Camp Avondale activities. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, daughter Michelle and her fiancé Jamie Fortenberry, son; Fredrick and his wife Judy, three grandchildren; Calvin, Frank and Elaine Turk, sisters; Susan Orr (Don), Mary Frances Faul (Leroy), Margaret Mercier (Larry) and Carol Tisdale (Michael), a brother; Milan Turk (Margot). He was preceded in death by parents; Frank P. Turk, Sr. and Zdenka Cop Turk. Visitation will be Friday, November 8, 2013 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Baton Rouge starting at 10:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm celebrated by Rev. Tom Duhe'. Burial will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pall bearers will be Fredrick Turk, Calvin Turk, Frank Turk, Jamie Fortenberry, Dayne (Chopper) Bonvillain and Carroll Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be Michelle Turk and Elaine Turk. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made payable to Istrouma Area Council (IAC). I worked with Mr. Turk at the refinery. What a gentleman he was. He was loved by all the people that he came in contact with. Take comfort in the fact that he was loved by so many people. I will always cherish the talks that we had. May the Lord comfort you in the days.

I got to know Frank really well when we became neighbors in 1964. He was a wonderful friend who always had his time and talents to share. He was dedicated to his family, his friends and his job and was always a Christian gentleman and was respected by all who knew him. We will all miss him.
