Gladys Root Obituary

ROOT, GLADYS TRAVIS A resident of Baton Rouge, she died at 4:20 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City. She was 92, born in Kentwood and a former longtime resident of Bogalusa. Visiting at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home, Bogalusa, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. Bob Adams. Entombment in Sanctuary of Peace Mausoleum at Ponemah Cemetery. Survived by two sons, William Barrett Root, Slidell, and Arthur Gibson Root III, Baton Rouge; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Gibson Root Jr.; sister, Lena Wilmuth Yarborough Travis; and grandson, Andrew Glassford Root. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Bogalusa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Fairhaven Children's Home, P.O. Box 1207, Covington, LA 70434.
