My sympathies to Herb's family.
Am sorry for your loss but am certain that Herb will be waiting for us in a better place. May he Rest in Peace, until then. Although I only saw him briefly at reunions over the years, many of us - his friends from Istrouma - have fond memories of our years together, many years ago. God's Grace to Herb.

Herbert and I went to Istrouma Jr. and Istrouma High. We graduated in 1964 together. He, Ken Wall, Chris Meisner, Don Berry, and myself hung out together in school and other events. In recent years, when I would come home from Utah (where I have lived since 2005), he and I and Chris, Ken, and Don(now in Texas) would get together for lunch. Herb was the example of North Baton Rouge in the 1950's and 60's. I grew up on Shelley just off Scenic Highway and I know Herbert was not that far from my area. He was a true gentleman. I remember him coming with Linda Millet to the Mormon Church a time or two where I was bishop at the time. It was a great reunion. In my last visit to Baton Rouge in 2019, he and I with Ken and Chris went to lunch and went to see the statue of Nawaganti at the library. I will miss his kind manner and his true friendship. Since he and I are the same age, it is sobering to know that we will all meet our Savior in the not to distant future. I am sure he will be there to meet his buddies. Though I live far away, I can feel my love and respect for him on this day. God bless you in the days ahead.
