Hubert Lincecum Obituary
Hubert Leo Lincecum, age 84, entered into the joy of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at his home in Birmingham, Alabama, on September 4, 2023. He was born July 13, 1939, in Lincecum, Louisiana, located in Grant Parish, and this is the place he always affectionately referred to as home. He moved to Birmingham, Alabama, in 2020 to be close to his children but was a professed lifelong resident of Louisiana. After a lifetime of public service, he retired from the Office of Group Benefits (OGB) as Deputy Undersecretary in 2016. During his career at OGB, he served on their Board of Directors and was also elected to serve on the national Board of Directors of the State and Local Government Benefits Association (SALGBA). Prior to his service with his OGB family, he served for 13 years as Legislative Director for the Louisiana Public Employees Council #17 AFSCME-AFL-CIO, lobbying the Louisiana Legislature for employee benefits. His accolades for working men and women in the State of Louisiana are well known but were recognized by himself as only an honor in helping those most in need. He also served 7 years in the 3671st Ordnance Company of the Louisiana National Guard at Camp Beauregard, Louisiana, of which he was Honorably Discharged in 1965. Having never taken a music lesson, he was born a talented musician who loved to sing and played numerous instruments, including the piano and drums. Some of his favorite designations included Daddy, Paw Paw, Me H, Daddy Paw, and Uncle, all of which he fulfilled with a heart full of love. He was keenly interested in family genealogy, loved sharing his Christmas Texas Trash with others, never missed an opportunity to enjoy God's handiwork evident in sunrises and sunsets, and loved the LSU Fighting Tigers. He loved sharing stories about his life and would impart life lessons he learned from his parents and grandparents with a message of tradition, continuity, and love. He knew his destination was Heaven and made it clear that he was going home. He is preceded in death by his parents Milton Green and Clara Bell Lincecum, sister Bobbie Lynn Wiggins, brothers Jimmie Reece Lincecum and Freddie Jean Lincecum, daughter Pamela Ruth Lincecum, granddaughter Randi Nicole Smith, great-granddaughter Gloria Smith, great-grandson Gavin Holman, along with numerous other beloved family and cherished friends. Survived by the mother of his children, Ruth Glass Lincecum, daughters Cheryl Anne Lincecum, Laura Lee Lincecum Edwards and husband David Edwin Edwards, Karen Louise Lincecum, son Brandon Reece Lincecum, sister Nancy Jo Aguillard, grandchildren Gabriel Michael Smith, Lindsay Marguerite-Ruth Smith, Zachary Dylan Smith, Desiree Sealia Gaff, Hallie King, James Brett Gravois (Melissa), Ryan Leo Gravois (Natalie), Chase Patrick Gravois (Chelsea), Candice Louise Osgood (Danny), and Briana Alexis Lake (Jeffery), 4 nieces, 2 nephews, 33 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. He is further survived by his Whittington grandchildren, whom he loved and cherished. Special mention of his beloved canine friendships with Scarlett, Clara Bell, and Cami Lee is included. He cherished his longtime fellowship with Florida Boulevard Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in addition to his "other family" at OGB. At his request, he was privately laid into eternal rest at Lincecum Baptist Church Cemetery in Lincecum, Louisiana. Romans 10:9. Special appreciation to Expect Care Hospice of Birmingham, Alabama.
